Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Overview

Multi-factor authentication is a feature on the i2i platform to secure a user’s account to ensure that their account has not been compromised or shared.

When this feature is enabled when a user logs in they will be asked to validate their account and the following information is captured it will then create a unique fingerprint from the below details and store this in the database against the i2i user profile.

  1. IP Address
  2. Browser Details
  3. Computer Operating System (Windows, Mac)

When the user logs in again the information will be compared to their current information and if there is a discrepancy then the user will be asked to reconfirm their account.

How it Works:

1. When MFA is enabled and a user logs in, the user will be advised that the device is not registered to their account and they will be prompted to check their email to verify.

2. The user will check their email and click on the verification link

3. They will taken to i2i verification page to validate the device to their account. When the users clicks the
‘validate’ button, i2i:

    1. The user’s data is noted and a unique fingerprint is created and linked to the user’s profile
    2. The Fingerprint is linked to the account for up to 7 days, from which they are required to re-validate their device on the next login.

4. They will then be taken to the i2i logged-in dashboard screen

If the user changes any of the fingerprint conditions (IP address, Browser, Operating System) or clears their browser cookies, the user will need to revalidate the device to their account.

If you would like this feature enabled please contact your Account Manager to lodge your request.
